A+E’s Spy Wars escalates

MIPCOM: Blue Ant in Canada, Pop TV in Slovenia and Chinese streamer Bilibil have all picked up a new UK factual series from A+E Networks fronted by Homeland star Damian Lewis.

Damian Lewis: Spy Wars was unveiled by A+E Networks UK in February and sales have been agreed with a host of broadcasters prior to the show’s launch at Mipcom this week.

Smithsonian Channel is airing the docu-drama in the US and A+E-owned History and Blaze are the broadcasters in the UK.

In addition, deals have been sealed for the show with TVNZ in New Zealand and Historia and Atresmedia in Spain.

The 8×60’ series is being produced by Alaska TV in association with Lewis’s own recently launched Rookery Productions.

It will reveal the true stories behind some of the most important international spy operations of the last 40 years. The show will include reconstructions featuring Lewis plus interviews with those involved, with shooting taking place in London, Moscow and Israel.
