A&E lengthens Live PD

Live PD follows US police departments in real time

US cablenet A&E is expanding the run of its hit docuseries Live PD with a 150-episode, 450-hour order.

The show, which is from US prodco Big Fish Entertainment, has become a ratings-grabber for the network since its debut in 2016.

The latest order from the A+E Networks-owned cablenet will see Live PD airing throughout 2019 and adds to the 100 episodes commissioned in 2017.

In June, US studio MGM Television struck an agreement to acquire Big Fish Entertainment, which was founded in 2006 by president Dan Cesareo. The company has been behind an array of shows including Chris Paul’s Chapter 3 for ESPN and Tattoo Girls for TLC.

It is also working on the forthcoming Just Tattoo of Us for MTV, while Live PD, which follows various police departments from across the US in real time, entered its second season in October. The show has been increased to three hours on Friday and Saturday nights thanks to its ratings success.
