A+E expands Banerjee’s Asia role

US broadcaster A+E Networks has promoted Saugato Banerjee to managing director for Asia from his former role of MD for North Asia.

The move will consolidate operations across the entire Asia region under the control of a single executive.

In his extended role, Banerjee will be responsible for South-east Asia, North Asia (Korea, China and Japan), Taiwan, Hong Kong and India.

The status of current South-east Asia MD Leena Singarajah was not clear at press time.

Banerjee joined A+E Networks in 2011, prior to which he held various roles at ESPN Star Sports, CNBC Asia Pacific, Contract Advertising and FCB India.

“We applaud his launch of our brands in Korea across linear and digital, spearheading key production partnerships and successful stewardship of our Japanese business as we look forward to even greater success in his new, expanded role.”
