A+E execs trade places

A+E Networks has swapped the roles of two senior executives at its History and A&E cablenets in a move designed to strengthen non-fiction programming at both channels.

Amy Savitsky

The change will see Amy Savitsky and Dolores Gavin switch places. Savitsky, senior VP of development and programming for A&E, will take up the same role at History, while Gavin, senior executive of development and production for History, will go the other way.

Both executives will continue to work out of A+E Networks’ headquarters in New York, with Savitsky reporting to Eli Lehrer, executive VP and general manager of History, and Gavin reporting to Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive VP and head of programming for A&E.

Savitsky joined A+E in 2015 and has overseen a number of titles including the Emmy-winning Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath and Kids Behind Bars: Life or Parole. Prior to that, she spent more than a decade at Discovery, latterly as senior VP of development for TLC.

Dolores Gavin

Meanwhile, Gavin was at the helm of the development team behind series such as Truck Night in America and The Food That Built America.

She rejoined History in 2016, following brief stints as executive VP of development at Megalomedia and executive VP of production and development at Discovery Channel. She had previously spent almost a decade at History, most recently as VP of programming.

Rob Sharenow, president of programming at A+E Networks, said: “One of the strengths of A+E is the breadth and depth of internal talent, along with a diverse portfolio, providing opportunities for gifted programming executives like Amy and Dolores to lend their expertise and creativity to multiple brands, while also allowing for significant personal creative growth by taking on new challenges within the organisation.”
