Acorn TV plants more Raisin

Agatha Raisin stars Ashley Jensen

US-based streamer Acorn TV has ordered a third season of mystery series Agatha Raisin.

The show is based on the novels by MC Beaton and stars Ashley Jensen as a PR guru turned detective.

Three feature-length episodes and a winter special are in the works, with Acorn Media Enterprises (AME), the UK-based development division of Agatha Christie owner RLJ Entertainment, partnering with Free@LastTV and All3Media-owned Company Pictures on production.

Agatha Raisin (4×90′ or 8×45′) was first commissioned by European satcaster Sky’s UK arm in 2014, but the pay TV broadcaster dropped the show after the initial season.

The third season is being produced in association with All3Media International, which will distribute around the world including the UK and Australia, with Acorn Media International distributing in most other English-speaking territories.

Late last year Acorn TV struck a deal that will see it offer forthcoming ITV crime drama Manhunt and travel docuseries Islands of America, both featuring actor Martin Clunes, to subscribers.
