Acorn TV picks up C4’s Deadwater Fell

David Tennant stars in Channel 4’s Deadwater Fell

AMC Networks-owned US streaming service Acorn TV has acquired exclusive North American rights to four-part UK drama Deadwater Fell from Endemol Shine International.

Deadwater Fell is set in a small Scottish community rocked by the murder of a family, which lays bare underlying issues of mistrust and suspicion.

The series is produced by Kudos and originally aired on Channel 4 in the UK. It was created and written by Daisy Coulam and directer by Lynsey Miller. Emma Kingsman-Lloyd, Karen Wilson, Coulam and lead actor David Tennant serve as executive producers, with Caroline Levy producing.

Deadwater Fell will make its US premiere on Acorn TV in April. It joins the service’s 2020 slate, which includes five new commissioned shows and a number of returning series and was unveiled today.

The new originals are Dead Still, Agatha Raisin, The South Westerlies, The Sounds and Finding Joy. Second seasons of Mystery Road and Blood and S6 of Line of Duty will also be joining the platform.

Don Klees, senior VP of programming for Acorn TV, said: “Acorn TV is thrilled to partner again with our friends at Endemol Shine International on another high-quality British production. Featuring an incredible ensemble cast led by David Tennant and Cush Jumbo, Deadwater Fell is an excellent addition to our Acorn TV original line-up with its beautiful Scottish setting and a gripping script that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats as new revelations arise.”
