Acorn TV adds to int’l slate

Irish comedy drama The South Westerlies

AMC Networks-owned US streaming service Acorn TV has revealed its 2020 line-up, which will feature a host of international scripted series sourced from around the world.

These include Irish comedy drama The South Westerlies, New Zealand thriller The Sounds and Irish period mystery series Dead Still.

Acorn TV has commissioned a record five series and added new seasons of shows such as Agatha Raisin, which marked Acorn TV’s first sole commission; hit UK drama Line of Duty; Irish comedy Finding Joy; ABC Australia drama Mystery Road; and Irish thriller Blood.

Also set to air are UK school dramedy Ackley Bridge, New Zealand detective drama The Brokenwood Mysteries, French crime drama Balthazar, new episodes of Canadian hit drama Murdoch Mysteries and Swedish noir Rebecka Martinsson.

Acorn TV will also launch its feature-length film Miss Fisher & the Crypt of Tears, starring Essie Davis (The Babadook, Game of Thrones), this spring
