ABS-CBN preps originals for iWant

Spirits Reawaken centres on teenagers with supernatural powers

Philippines-based broadcaster ABS-CBN is revamping its streaming service iWant and has ordered an array of original content for the platform.

A new version of iWant will launch this Saturday with new originals including Spirits Reawaken, a reboot of the 2005 show from veteran Filipino director Chito Roño. The drama focuses on six teenagers who have supernatural powers.

Anthology series Alamat ng Ano (Legend of What), romantic drama Glorious and travel series Laureen on a Budget, featuring Filipino fashion and travel vlogger Laureen Uy, are also part of the relaunch slate.

The programmes will be available for free, with the streamer planning more original titles including a special digital version of reality competition Star Hunt.

The line-up of original content also includes horror film Ma, which revolves around a child whose inner evil is awakened when he is forced to sacrifice a life to revive his dead mother.

iWant’s library also includes ABS-CBN shows as wells as films, restored movies and Asian telenovelas such as Meteor Garden.
