A Squared, AOL team up on webisodes

A Squared Entertainment, the children’s media company set up by former DIC Entertainment topper Andy Heyward and marketing veteran Amy Moynihan, has teamed up with AOL on a slate of webisodes for children.

The programmes will feature personalities such as Warren Buffett, Gisele Bündchen, Martha Stewart and the late Carl Sagan – entertaining and teach kids about finance, the environment, creativity, and science.

A Squared, working in collaboration with AOL, will produce a season’s worth of three to five minute webisodes that will premiere on AOL. The web firm will also work with A Squared to distribute the webisodes more broadly online.

In addition, AOL is working with MGX Lab to create an interactive world for each property, with games and activities to support and extend the webisode content.

Secret Millionaire’s Club, featuring Warren Buffett, and GiGi & the Green Team, featuring Gisele Bündchen, are scheduled to debut on AOL this fall, while Little Martha, featuring Martha Stewart, and Kosmos, inspired by Carl Sagan and created by Cosmos co-author Ann Druyan, will launch in spring 2010.

Last year, Canada’s Cookie Jar Entertainment bought DIC Entertainment, which Heyward helmed for US$195m. DIC’s franchises included Inspector Gadget, Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears.
