909 gets Naked & Afraid in France

Discovery’s ground-breaking Naked & Afraid

MIPCOM: Lagardère Studios-owned 909 Productions is to adapt Discovery Channel format Naked & Afraid in France.

A 12-episode season of the show will air on a free-to-air channel, the identity of which has yet to be revealed, with Discovery Channel in France getting second-window rights.

Naked & Afraid sees a couple stranded in a remote location without clothes. They must survive for 21 days with just one personal item each.

Renegade 83 originally produced the show for Discovery Channel, with Discovery Networks International as the distribution partner.

The French deal was brokered by Discovery Global Enterprises and will result in the first international version of the US format.

“The partnership with Lagardère Studios and 909 Productions on the first international adaptation is a new demonstration of our commitment to further enhance the growth of the Discovery portfolio in France, including the launch of two new channels this year, Discovery Investigation and Discovery Family,” said Julien Bergeaud, senior VP and country manager for France at Discovery Communications.
