9 Story ups Santomero, rebrands Blue

Canada’s 9 Story Media has appointed the co-founder of its recently acquired prodco Out of the Blue Enterprises as its new chief creative officer.

Angela Santomero is taking the newly created role, reporting to 9 Story president and CEO Vince Commisso, and will lead the creative content strategy for the whole group.

The appointment follows the acquisition of New York-based Out of the Blue, the firm behind toons including Blue’s Clues, in January. The company is now being rebranded as 9 Story USA.

Santomero is a creator, executive producer and writer for kids and family brands including Blue’s Clues (Nick Jr), Super Why!, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood (both PBS KIDS), Wishenpoof! (Amazon Studios) and the new Charlie in Colorforms City (Netflix).

She is the recipient of a Peabody Award for Outstanding Children’s Programming and has recently written a book, Preschool Clues: Raising Smart, Inspired and Engaged Kids in a Screen-Filled World.

9 Story USA will be the anchor of 9 Story’s creative development and will continue to be supported by key development staff and operations in Toronto and Dublin.
