50 Cent lands two more Starz projects

Starz has put two new projects from Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson and his G-Unit Film & Television prodco into development, including a drama inspired by the life of sports agent and attorney Nicole Lynn.

Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson

The as-yet-untitled female sports agent drama follows the rise of a determined young African American woman as she climbs to the top of the highly competitive world of sports agents.

It is inspired by events that shaped Lynn on her path to becoming the first black woman to represent a top three NFL draft pick, a fierce advocate for her legal clients and a breath of fresh air in a male-dominated industry.

It comes from writer Tash Grey (Snowfall), who will executive produce alongside Lynn and who is is currently writer/co-executive producer on Jackson and G Unit’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan, which is set to premiere on Starz in 2021.

The second series in development is Moment in Time: The Massacre (working title) from writer and executive producer Abdul Williams (The Bobby Brown Story, The New Edition Story).

It is described as a seasonal anthology series that will explore the true stories behind explosive moments in hip-hop history. Season one reveals how tension between 50 Cent and fellow rapper The Game led to an all-out street war, pitting G-Unit against music impresario Jimmy Henchman and resulting in a murder-for-hire plot and Henchman serving a life sentence.

Williams most recently scripted a biopic about hip-hop trailblazers Salt N’ Pepa for US network Lifetime.

Anil Kurian will, in part, develop both projects on behalf of G-Unit Film & Television. Kurian joined G-Unit as head of development just under a year ago to help oversee its expanding slate of current series and development.

Senior VP of original programming Kathryn Tyus-Adair is the Starz executive overseeing the two projects.
