2waytraffic has another Commercial Breakdown

Dutch distributor 2waytraffic International will showcase a new series of comedy format Commercial Breakdown at MipTV next month and has inked deals for both the format and the completed series.

The 11th series of the 17-year-old format, titled Commercial Breakdown with Jimmy Carr (7×30′), gathers together adverts from all corners of the globe and is hosted by UK comedian Carr.

Originated for BBC1 by Celador Productions, Commercial Breakdown has featured a raft of British comedy talent including Jasper Carrott, Jo Brand, Ruby Wax and Jon Culshaw, and now most recently, Carr. Territories where Commercial Breakdown has aired include France, Germany, North Africa, the Netherlands, Brazil, the Middle East and South Korea.

New deals for the format include Australia’s Nine Network, which has created a home grown version of the format, using the adverts and scripts from the UK series to create an original series of 12×30′ episodes, hosted by former Australian rules football legend turned presenter and commentator, Dermott Brereton. Other countries to have created their own version of the show include Russia and Norway.

In a new deal, taking the number of territories in which Commercial Breakdown has aired to 17, Slovenian public broadcaster RTV Slovenia, has acquired the entire catalogue of 11 series of the show, totalling over 40 episodes, whilst Sky NZ in New Zealand has acquired the three most recent series.
