Zee One debuts in Germany

India’s Zee Entertainment Enterprises has launched its free-to-air channel in Germany.

Zee One, operated by the Essel Group-owned firm, is a 24-hour channel offering Bollywood movies, Indian series and entertainment and general-interest shows.

Former Magine TV head Friederike Behrends has taken charge of Zee’s business operations in the country, and there are also plans for local content on the channel.

Plans for Zee One in Germany were first revealed in January, with the network targeting females aged 19 to 59.

Earlier this month, C21 revealed that Zee was looking to launch a global SVoD service that would offer Indian content and international programming.

Its portfolio already includes 34 Indian and 37 international TV channels, plus eight HD stations, which are claimed to reach almost one billion people in 169 countries.
