Zee Mundo makes it to Mexico

India’s Zee Entertainment Enterprises has launched its Spanish-language Bollywood movie channel in another country in Latin America.

Zee Mundo is now carried in Mexico by pay TV firm Sky, featuring Bollywood action, romance, suspense, drama and comedy films that have been dubbed into Spanish.

The move comes after Zee launched the HD network, which it claims is the first ever Spanish-language Bollywood movie channel, in Ecuador earlier this month and the US last year.

“This is a key market for us and we want to take this channel to the length and breadth of audiences in both Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking Latin America,” said Amit Goenka, CEO of Zee’s international broadcast business.

Rajeev Kheror, president of international business strategy at Zee, added: “There is a cultural synergy between India and Latin America, with Indian content and storylines resonating strongly with Latin American values and traditions.”

In related news, Zee has taken pay TV rights to CBS drama The Good Fight, the show from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King.

The series picks up one year after the events of the final episode of The Good Wife and is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions. CBS Studios International sells globally.
