YouTube takes second Step Up

Ten episodes of Step Up: High Water will be available this year

YouTube Premium (fka YouTube Red) has commissioned a second season of dance drama Step Up: High Water, based on the popular film franchise.

The hour-long show, produced by Lionsgate and starring Naya Rivera and Faizon Love, will return for 10 more episodes next year.

Step Up: High Water was created and executive produced by showrunner Holly Sorensen. Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and Meredith Milton executive produced season one alongside Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, who co-starred in the original Step Up film. All will return for the second run.

The first episode of season one has racked up more than 22 million views since launching in January. Shooting on season two will begin in the fall in Atlanta.

YouTube Red’s rebrand as YouTube Premium was announced last week. The service’s new features will include YouTube Music, offering ad-free streaming, background listening and downloads, as well as more original series and movie content.
