Young-adult novel adapted for Netflix

Netflix has commissioned an adaptation of a novel for young adults written by UK author Beth Reekles, to be produced by Komixx Media Group.

Set in the US, The Kissing Booth follows a popular 16-year-old girl who loves to party but has never been kissed until she falls for her best friend’s brother.

The story came to prominence in 2012 after Reekles uploaded it on to the online storytelling community Wattpad, where it received more than 19 million reads worldwide, according to Komixx.

The Netflix adaptation will be feature length and will be directed by writer and director Vince Marcello (Teen Beach Movie, Zombie Prom).

UK- and US-based Komixx specialises in identifying IP with commercial potential for preschool, family and young adults.
