Youku Tudou in drama drive

Chinese online video firm Youku Tudou has created a TV drama production unit and appointed a new chief operating officer.

Edward Su joins from Havas Worldwide, a subsidiary of French advertising holding company Havas.

The firm has also restructured its content management and production facilities into nine content centres, each focusing on a genre of programming: TV drama, news, variety shows, movies, games, animation, music, education and entertainment information

Youku Tudou’s chief content officer, Sunny Xiangyang Zhu, has been named CEO of Heyi Studios, which will produce original TV dramas and web-native content. Allen Huilong Zhu, CEO of Heyi Pictures, will manage the group’s movie centre.
