Yellow Bird CEO exits, launches prodco

The CEO of the Zodiak Media-owned Scandinavian production firm behind Wallander is stepping down from her role next month to set up her own business.

Johannes Jensen will replace Anni Fernandez at Yellow Bird from September 1 and will hold the position in addition to his current role as CEO of Zodiak Nordic.

Fernandez, meanwhile, will set up her own Danish production company, focusing on feature films and TV series, but will continue to work with Yellow Bird as an executive producer on a range of projects.

The exec joined Yellow Bird in 2008 as an executive producer and was appointed CEO in January 2012 to replace Mikael Wallen, having overseen the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo film as well as its US version, which was directed by David Fincher.

Fernandez’s other executive producer credits include the Norwegian crime thriller Headhunters, the Swedish Wallander series and its UK version, starring Kenneth Branagh.

Current projects in production with Yellow Bird include political drama Occupied (10×60′) for TV2 Norway and Arte in France, as well as season four of Wallander for the BBC.
