Xbox gets unscripted head

Microsoft has hired of an exec credited with spearheading US cablenet AMC’s move into unscripted programming to oversee the genre at Xbox Entertainment Studios.

Ari Mark joined the Microsoft team yesterday and will be based out of Santa Monica, California.

At AMC, Mark developed series such as The Pitch, Small Town Security, Talking Dead and Comic Book Men.

He is also responsible for the upcoming Game of Arms series, as well as other 2014-2015 programming on AMC including its first docu-drama, a series about the creation of the Mob.

Before that, Mark worked at Embassy Row as director of development and manager of development at The Sundance Channel.

Upcoming original programming at Xbox includes a series of docs about the start of the digital revolution produced by Simon and Jonathan Chinn, the award-winning producers behind feature doc Man On Wire.
