Wright enters Hot House

A former Shine TV creative director has become the first producer to set up an indie in partnership with Remy Blumenfeld and Justin Bodle’s incubator The Hot House.

Steven D Wright is starting up Kerfuffle TV as a 50/50 joint venture with The Hot House, which was launched by Blumenfeld and Bodle in London last week.

The Hot House has £3m (US$4.35m), with backing from Bodle’s Purecom Entertainment International, and an office in Soho to initially back 10 fledgling companies being launched by executive producers.

Kerfuffle TV will focus on factual entertainment, popular factual and entertainment programming, tapping into Wright’s 13 years in the production business.

Wright was Channel 4’s first commissioning editor for factual entertainment and commissioned documentaries including Freddie Starr Ate My Hamster.

He subsequently spent five years as creative director at Shine, working on shows including 100 Greatest Musicals for Channel 4 and Life and Death in Ancient Rome for Sky1.

He also had stints as creative director at Carbon and Whizz Kid, creating reality hit Ex on the Beach for MTV at the latter.
