The Secret Diaries of Tara Tremendous

A US kids’ studio is developing a popular music-driven, superhero-themed podcast for television following its success on iTunes.

Wonkybot Studios, the children’s and family prodco formed by industry veterans Stewart St John, Todd Fisher and Michael Plahuta, is developing The Secret Diaries of Tara Tremendous as an animated series.

Season two of the podcast is set to launch next month, with music CDs and books due soon after. It was created by St John, whose credits include ABC’s Sabrina: The Animated Series and Marvel’s The Hulk, and episodes have been topping 50,000 downloads a day.

The animated series, a first for Wonkybot, will be aimed at children aged between four and eight and their families.

The plot centres on Tara Callahan, a headstrong eight-year-old girl who is accidentally infused with superpowers.

St John, CEO of Wonkybot Studios, said: “The audience’s reaction to the first season of Tara Tremendous was, and continues to be, awesome, confirming we made the right decision to launch the character in a podcast in order to build awareness.”
