Wonder Woman scribe tucks into Cucumber

Cucumber aired on Channel 4 in the UK

Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg has agreed an overall deal with ABC Studios and is developing a US show based on Russell T Davies’ Channel 4 dramas Cucumber and Banana.

The agreement with Heinberg, who wrote the screenplay for the box-office smash superhero film, will see him create and develop new projects for ABC Studios and its cable arm ABC Signature Studios.

The first project to emerge partners Heinberg with Shonda Rhimes’ prodco Shondaland to produce Adult Behavior, which is inspired by Davies’ gay-themed drama duo Cucumber (8×60′) and Banana (8×30′).

Cucumber and Banana aired on the UK’s Channel 4 and sibling net E4 respectively in 2015, along with online-only accompaniment Tofu. The shows were coproduced with Viacom’s Logo TV in the US.

Adult Behavior is described as a sexy, multi-generational comedic drama and will be written by Heinberg. He exec produces alongside Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Davies, Julie Gardner from Bad Wolf and Nicola Shindler, whose Canal+ backed prodco Red Production Company was behind the original series.
