Winter signs with A+E Studios

A+E Studios has signed a first-look development deal with feature film and TV producer Rachel Winter.

Under the pact, which covers series and other forms of scripted TV drama, Winter will work with the A+E Studios team to develop original programming for the firm’s networks including A&E, Lifetime and History.

Winter, along with Robbie Brenner, produced critically acclaimed feature film Dallas Buyers Club, starring Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner, which received six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.

She recently agreed a deal with Televisa USA to exec produce Anne Rice’s series of erotic novels The Sleeping Beauty for television and is also producing an untitled drama for ABC. That show stars Felicity Huffman, who will also produce, and centres around the fearless leader of a team of young agents on the New York City joint terrorism task force. The project was recently given a put pilot commitment from the network.

On the film side, Winter most recently produced Stealing Cars, which tells the story of a tragic car accident that sends a confident yet rebellious teen into a difficult situation within the juvenile penal system.

She is also re-teaming with Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated writer-producer Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, The Wolf of Wall Street) to produce the untitled LeBron James biopic, which she set up at Universal with the basketball star and Maverick Carter as producing partners.

A+E launched its in-house production studio in June 2013, led by Bob DeBitetto.
