White Slave heads to Africa

A pan-African broadcaster has acquired Colombian drama The White Slave from distributor Caracol Internacional.

The 62×60′ series has begun airing in a weekday 19.00 slot on Canal+ Afrique, which broadcasts in French to more than 20 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

It tells the story of a white woman raised by slaves. Years after being separated from her family, she returns to the US to avenge the death of her biological parents, free her adoptive family and reunite with the love of her life.

Produced by Caracol Television, the show (aka La Esclava Blanca) debuted on Caracol in Colombia in 2016 and has already been sold around the world, including to 1TV in Afghanistan.

In related news, Ecuador’s Teleamazonas has picked up drama Cuando Vivas Conmigo from Colombian broadcaster Caracol.

The series, produced by Caracol Television and distributed by Caracol International, is based on Mario Vargas Llosa’ novel El Héroe Discreto (The Discreet Hero) and follows two sisters who forget their differences to support each other after being orphaned.
