WGN lines up futuristic drama

US cable network WGN has given a script order to a drama series from Fast & Furious 6 director Justin Lin and Gaumont International Television.

Lin will direct and executive produce Radiant Doors, which is based on a Michael Swanwick short story about the arrival in the present of refugees from a dystopian future.

Jeremy Doner (the US version of The Killing) is writing and executive producing. WGN has given the project a script order against a series commitment, which means it would go straight to series if the pilot script is approved.

Danielle Woodrow and Troy Craig Poon will executive produce with Lin for his company Perfect Storm Entertainment.

The deal marks the latest push by Tribune Broadcasting’s WGN into scripted production. The network, originally a Chicago ‘super-station,’ ordered its first scripted series, Fox 21 historical drama Salem, last summer. Earlier this year it relaunched itself as a national network with three more scripted series orders.
