Wendy Williams takes Knapp

Veteran reality television producer Lisa Knapp has been recruited by fledgling US prodco Wendy Williams Productions (WWP) as senior VP of development.

Talkshow host Wendy Williams Hunter and her husband and manager Kevin Hunter formed WWP to develop reality game and talkshows for the cable and broadcast markets. Williams will executive produce projects and may have an on-camera role in some.

Knapp was brought onboard to oversee development and production as well as the strategic growth of the company. She will be based at the LA offices of Debmar-Mercury, which produces and distributes Williams’ nationally syndicated The Wendy Williams Show and will be a partner with the new company.

Knapp was head of development at reality producer 44 Blue from 2008 to 2010, overseeing series for VH1, Bravo, Tru TV and Spike.

She previously produced Knievel’s Wild Ride and Gene Simmons Family Jewels for A&E; Bands Reunited and Ambushed for VH1; The Bachelorette for ABC; and Momma’s Boys for NBC, among many others.

Williams said. “As anyone who watches my show knows, I am a huge fan of all reality and gameshows and know a thing or two about talk. Lisa has spent a career creating and producing the kind of television shows I love, and we are thrilled to have her guide our development efforts.”
