The Seven Network has confirmed Bride & Prejudice: The Hidden Weddings, its adaptation of the A+E Networks
format that airs on FYI, will premiere on January 30.

The 7Productions’ series will follow five couples, including two who are same-sex, as they decide to get married in the face of staunch opposition from their family and friends.

The network flagged up a “controversial” new relationships show, which was filmed in secret, at its upfronts last October but did not reveal the title.

Bride & Prejudice will air at 21.00 following a strong lead-in from the new season of culinary reality show My Kitchen Rules (MKR), the most popular series on Australian TV, which premieres at 19.30.

The Nine Network, meanwhile, aims to draw some viewers away from MKR by launching season four of Married At First Sight at 19.30 on January 30, stripped across three or four nights a week.

The first three seasons were produced in-house at Nine but Endemol Shine Australia took over as the show is expanding. Three relationship experts will try to pair 20 singles – twice as many as before – in an effort to create 10 perfect matches using a mix of neuroscience and psychology.

Also in the reality space, Network Ten is unleashing season three of ITV Studios Australia’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! at 19.00 on January 29, broadcast live, five nights a week from South Africa.
