WE TV cuts The Divide

AMC Networks-owned US cablenet WE TV has cancelled its first original drama series, The Divide, after one season.

The 8×60’ series focused on the fight to prove the innocence of a death row inmate and was produced by AMC Studios, the company behind The Walking Dead and Mad Men.

The show was written by Richard Lagravenese (Water for Elephants, The Bridges of Madison County), who also executive produced alongside Tony Goldwyn (Justified, Dexter), with its last episode airing in the US on August 27.

WE TV last year appointed Cheryl Bloch as its first senior VP of scripted programming and the cablenet is set to premiere its next drama, South of Hell (8×60′), next year.

The supernatural series follows a female exorcist and demon-hunter for hire and its first episode will be directed by Eli Roth (Hostel, Hemlock Grove).
