Watch conjures more magic

UKTV channel Watch, home to Dynamo: Magician Impossible, has commissioned a new magic show from the team behind Derren Brown’s TV specials.

The Happenings, co-created by Objective Productions, follows magicians Barry and Stuart as they spring a series of mysterious events on unsuspecting residents of towns across the UK and America.

The series, on which Objective has teamed with frequent copro partner Crook Productions, will debut on Watch in December.

“The Happenings is a new type of narrative magic show that brings the most extraordinary movie scenes to life in front of bewildered onlookers,” said UKTV commissioning editor Richard Watsham.

In related news, UKTV has signed a new long-term carriage agreement with local satcaster Sky, extending the arrangement so that programmes from its entire portfolio of channels – including Watch – are available to Sky subscribers on-demand and out-of-home.

In addition, UKTV’s British comedy channel Gold will join Now TV, Sky’s internet TV service, which earlier this week added the company’s own array of entertainment nets.
