Chinese property and investment firm Dalian Wanda Group (DWG) is reportedly in talks to acquire a majority stake in Dick Clark Productions (DCP).

Buying DCP would mark the Chinese company’s second acquisition in Hollywood, after it bought film and TV producer Legendary Entertainment for US$3.5bn in January.

DCP holds rights to award shows such as the American Music Awards, the Golden Globes and the Hollywood Film Awards, and was also behind Fox’s live musical show The Passion, which aired in March.

Reuters reports that DWG has tabled a US$1bn bid for the company.

DWG, meanwhile, is run by chairman Wang Jianlin, said to be China’s richest man, and owns China’s biggest chain of cinemas and also holds a majority stake in US movie theatre chain AMC.
