Voice EP launches Chinese JV

A former executive producer of hit BBC formats including The Voice and Strictly Come Dancing has launched a joint-venture indie prodco with China’s 3C Media.

Andrea Hamilton has founded London-based Om TV with the Chinese production and formats specialist.

Om TV will focus on devising and producing entertainment and factual entertainment ideas for the UK market, as well as coproductions with 3C Media with a more global focus.

Hamilton, who will be Om TV CEO, was a commissioning editor at Sky1 before executive producing at the BBC.

3C Media produced a Chinese version of Strictly Come Dancing in 2006 and has since grown into one of the country’s biggest prodcos.

Hamilton said: “It’s a really exciting time to be launching an entertainment production company, particularly in partnership with one of China’s largest and most successful production companies. Om TV will strive to win commissions in the UK and, additionally, it’s a privilege to have a direct link with this fascinating emerging market.”

3C Media owner and CEO Xichen Liu added: “We greatly admire the creativity and production capability of the UK.
