TNT’s Will to win space on Virgin TV

TNT’s Elizabethan drama Will

Pay TV operator Virgin Media has acquired exclusive UK rights to period drama Will from US cable network TNT.

The show is described as a “wild, rowdy and seductive drama” charting the lost years of a young William Shakespeare as he finds his feet and fortune in Elizabethan London.

Comprising 10 one-hour episodes, the series was created by Craig Pearce, who previously partnered with Baz Luhrmann to adapt The Great Gatsby (2013) and Romeo & Juliet (1996).

TNT announced in September that the show, produced by Turner Broadcasting, would be limited to a single season.

The first four episodes will launch on Virgin TV on-demand on Thursday December 28, with a new episode released each following week.

Will is the latest in a string of acquisitions by Virgin Media in the last few months and is its ninth exclusive UK launch, following shows including Kingdom, Ash vs Evil Dead and Imposters.

Other recent additions include Michelle Dockery’s Good Behaviour and, as of last week, Flemish noir brothel drama Chausee d’Amour.

Will is available to Virgin TV customers with the Full House package or above through Virgin’s V6 or TiVo boxes, as well as on mobile devices through the Virgin TV Anywhere app.
