44 Blue has picked up the rights to Dandy Lion: The Black Dandy & Street Style and will partner with Davis and her husband Julius Tennon’s company JuVee Productions to executive produce the show, titled Dandy Lions.

The programme has been inspired by the book’s curated collection of photographs and stories of dandies, designers and fashion movements from around the world.

It will chart the history of the black dandy fashion and style movement and its increased attention in recent years, with the popularity of social media platforms such as Street Etiquette and celebrities like Jidenna, Amar’e Stoudemire and Janelle Monae.

Davis won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Fences in 2016.
