Vimeo selects Sud as CEO

Video-sharing site Vimeo has promoted one of its general managers to CEO just weeks after the company revealed it was scrapping plans to launch its own SVoD service.

Anjali Sud

Anjali Sud takes up the position having previously been general manager and senior VP at Vimeo’s creator business.

Sud, whose remit covers strategy and operations, replaces Kerry Trainor, who left the company more than a year ago. The role had been held on an interim basis by Joey Levin, CEO at Barry Diller’s IAC, which owns Vimeo.

Levin said having spent the last year “inside the business working closely with Anjali and the team at Vimeo,” she had “stood out as a leader.”

Vimeo unveiled its plan for its own SVoD service, which had been scheduled to launch in 2018, last year and began acquiring content for it from the likes of BBC Worldwide and All3Media in November.

However, the company subsequently rowed back on the decision to launch the service, which would have offered original programming, in June, several months after hiring Paramount Pictures’ Alana Mayo to lead its original content division.
