Vietnam takes on Biggest Loser

A broadcaster in Vietnam is lining up a local version of The Biggest Loser, one of five formats it’s moving ahead with from distributor Shine International.

The VTV network will air its own 15×60’ run of the weight-loss format in 2015 and is also working on four other remakes from Shine.

Beauty & The Geek has been picked up by Cattiensa, one of the largest prodcos in Vietnam, and will also get a 15×60’ run on VTV.

Meanwhile, 52 episodes of Junior Minute to Win It, a spin-off from the popular gameshow, have been commissioned for VTV3. The same channel has ordered a second series of Got To Dance for September.

Meanwhile, MasterChef, which debuted on VTV3 in 2013, will get a second season in July, while the junior version is due to get its first in November and a celebrity edition some time next year.

The news comes after Shine International yesterday announced the expansion of its scripted ambitions in Southern Europe and a string of deals earlier in the week at MipTV.
