Viasat World prepares for Knightfall

Medieval drama Knightfall was ordered by History in the US

European pay TV operator Viasat World has acquired A+E Networks’ Knights Templar drama Knightfall along with a slate of the US broadcasters’ factual series and TV movies.

Viasat World has picked up the pay TV, basic TV and SVoD rights to the forthcoming drama series for Russia and CIS.

Knightfall is being produced by A+E Studios in association with Jeremy Renner’s The Combine, Island Pictures and Midnight Radio for History in the US.

It takes viewers inside the politics and warfare of the Knights Templar, a powerful, wealthy and mysterious military order in the Middle Ages.

The 10×60’ series will make its debut on Viasat World’s ViP Premiere channel and ViPPlay on-demand service on December 7, the day after its US bow.

A+E Networks holds worldwide distribution rights to the series and has sold it to Viasat World as part of a package that includes TV movies such as The Flight Before Christmas and Wishin’ and Hopin’.

Factual series in the package include the first season of Engineering Disasters (8×60’) and season two of Shipping Wars UK (40×30’) for Russia, CIS and CEE and The Hunt (8×60’) for the Nordics.
