Viaplay nabs Nickelodeon shows

Modern Times Group (MTG)’s VoD service Viaplay has agreed a rights deal for a host of children’s shows from Viacom-owned network Nickelodeon.

Viaplay subscribers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland will now gain access to animations such as Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants and The Penguins of Madagascar until 2020. Live action series Victorious and iCarly are also included in the package.

Each show will be part of Viaplay’s download-to-go service, enabling customers to watch the programmes on their mobile devices when they are offline.

Viacom agreed a wide-ranging deal with MTG back in January that saw programming from MTV and Comedy Central become available to subscribers of TV6Play in Sweden, Viasat4play in Norway and TV3Play in Denmark.
