VH1 hires MTV’s Ricci

VH1 has made its second senior appointment in as many days by bringing in an MTV2 development exec to oversee its alternative programming.

Paul Ricci becomes senior VP, head of alternative programming and development at the Viacom-owned network, having previously been senior VP of development at sister network MTV2.

Ricci takes up the role in August and will remain based in New York, overseeing all comedy, studio and topical programming for the network.

He reports to Nina Diaz, who yesterday was named exec VP and head of reality programming at VH1, with a remit across all the genre’s development and production for the channel. She reports to Chris McCarthy, VH1’s president.

At MTV2, Ricci worked on shows including Hip Hop Squares, Guy Code and Going Off, which will air on MTV.
