Versailles, The Restaurant make Epic Drama

Versailles joins Epic Drama’s launch slate

European pay TV operator Viasat World has picked up two series from UK-based distributor Banijay Rights for its new Epic Drama platform.

The Restaurant (10×60’) was originally commissioned by Swedish pubcaster SVT and is a family saga about love, conflict and betrayal. It is produced by Jarowskij in collaboration with SVT, Viaplay and Film i Väst.

Versailles (10×60’), coproduced by Capa Drama, Zodiak Fiction and Incendo for Canal+, was also acquired.

Both series will join the launch slate of the new channel and SVoD service and will be available in all Epic Drama markets.

The deal expands Viasat World’s partnership with Banijay Rights as it buys more varied programming to fit its growing channel portfolio.

Epic Drama launches on December 14 in Viasat World’s CEE markets. Banijay Rights holds worldwide distribution rights to The Restaurant and Versailles.
