Valkyrien sews up Euro, Aussie sales

Norwegian drama Valkyrien is produced by Tordenfilm for NRK

Broadcasters across Europe and Australasia have picked up dramas including Nordic series Valkyrien from distributor and TV finance specialist About Premium Content (APC).

Medical and crime drama Valkyrien, about a physician trying to save his wife’s life in an underground clinic, has been picked up by Canal+ in France, Canal+’s Ale Kino in Poland, UPC in Switzerland and SBS in Australia.

Rialto in New Zealand has also acquired the Norwegian show, along with Deutsche Telekom in Germany, while Studio Hamburg has taken home entertainment and electronic sell-through rights for German-speaking countries.

The series, in which APC has invested and holds all global distribution rights, is produced by Norwegian indie Tordenfilm for NRK and written by showrunner Erik Richter Strand.

It has already been sold to SVoD service Walter Presents in the UK and the US while English-language remake rights have been sold to Liza Marshall’s indie Hera Films.

Meanwhile, APC has sold French duo Contact (8×52’) and The Forest (6×52’) to an array of operators.

Contact, about a man who can see the secret memories of any object he touches, has been sold to Walter Presents in the UK, US and Australia, as well as TVP in Poland and UPC in Switzerland. The show is produced by Carma Films and aired on TF1 last month.

The Forest, a missing persons crime mystery, has been picked up by NPO in the Netherlands, AMC in Spain, Canal+’s Ale Kino in Poland, VRT in Flanders and RTS in French-speaking Switzerland. The show is also produced by Carma and will air on France Télévisions shortly.
