USA Network axes two

US cablenet USA Network has cancelled its Fairly Legal and Common Law drama series.

The second season of Fairly Legal premiered to 3.5 million viewers in March but had dropped to 2.5 million by its conclusion in June.

The series, produced by NBCUniversal’s in-house prodco Universal Cable Productions, stars Sarah Shahi as a lawyer who changes her profession to mediator and goes to work for her father’s company. Shahi has recently been cast in NBC’s drama series Chicago Fire.

Common Law, about a group of NYPD cops, didn’t make it beyond its first season. Ted Linhart, USA Network senior VP of research, tweeted earlier this week that the channel had decided not to commission a second season from producers CBS Television Studios.
