USA adds fuel to Burn Notice

USA Network’s Burn Notice will become the third series in the cable channel’s history to reach 100 episodes after a new season was greenlit for 2013.

The spy series will return next year with a shorter seventh season of 13 episodes, down from the 8 ordered for seasons four to six.

But the new order will be enough to see it join detective series Monk and comedy drama Psych as the only USA series to celebrate their 100th episodes. Psych is due to hit the landmark next year.

Burn Notice was created, written and exec produced by Matt Nix. Mikkel Bondesen and Alfredo Barrios also exec produce. It is produced by Fox Television Studios and Red Arrow Entertainment-backed Fuse Entertainment.

NBCUniversal-owned USA has previously renewed another original drama, Suits, for a third season, alongside new runs for Royal Pains, White Collar and Covert Affairs.

However, there will not be a second season of miniseries Political Animals and it has also axed Fairly Legal and Common Law.
