Univision names Rodríguez networks chief

US Hispanic-focused media group Univision Communications has appointed a president and chief operating officer at its networks division.

Jessica Rodríguez

Jessica Rodríguez, the company’s chief marketing officer, has taken the newly created role at UC Networks.

Rodríguez will report to Isaac Lee, chief content officer at Univision and Mexican entertainment giant Grupo Televisa.

She will continue to serve as the company’s CMO, reporting to Randy Falco, president and CEO of Univision Communications.

As president and COO of UC Networks, Rodríguez will oversee the daily operations of the firm’s television networks.

As part of the new structure, Lourdes Díaz, president of entertainment, will report to Rodríguez.

Univision Communications said bringing responsibilities for its networks under one exec would benefit business units such as sales, distribution, finance and operations, as well as strengthen its partnership with Televisa.

Prior to her role as CMO, Rodríguez held the position of executive VP of programme scheduling and promotions.

Previously, Rodríguez served as senior VP of UC Networks and prior to that, VP, special assistant to the president of UC Networks.

She began her career at Univision as an intern in the LS station and then moved to Puerto Rico where she held multiple roles, including VP and station manager.
