Universal shows appetite for Little Lunch

NBCUniversal (NBCU) Cable Entertainment has picked up an Australian comedy series for its Universal Kids network, which is getting rebranded from Sprout later this year.

Aussie live-action comedy Little Lunch is set during morning snack time

Little Lunch, produced by Gristmill and created by Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope, is a live-action comedy series that takes place during morning snack time. It is sold globally by the Australian Children’s Television Foundation.

The show, which will premiere on Universal Kids when the US cablenet launches in September, has already been picked up by Netflix in the US and UK, SVT in Sweden, RTÉ in Ireland and TVO in Canada amongst others.

This month NBCU announced plans to rebrand Sprout and skew it slightly older under general manager Deidre Brennan.
