Universal Kids bigs up Little Roy

NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s US children’s network Universal Kids has acquired the Irish live-action/animated hybrid series Little Roy.

Live-action/animation hybrid spin-off Little Roy

The network has taken exclusive US TV rights to the 52×14′ preschool series, which was created and produced by Irish production, distribution and licensing company Jam Media.

Jointly commissioned by CBBC and CBeebies in the UK, it is a spin-off to CBBC’s Roy, the show follows Ireland’s “only cartoon boy living in the real world” during his younger years, aged five.

The show will air on Universal Kids, which was rebranded earlier this year, on the channel’s preschool programming block, Sprout.

The series has already been acquired by broadcasters including ABC in Australia, Discovery in MENA, DR in Denmark, HOP TV in Israel, RTÉ in Ireland, SVT in Sweden, YLE in Finland and VRT in Belgium.
