UKTV unveils comic formats, factual orders

Comedian Jon Richardson fronts a new series for Dave

Broadcaster UKTV has revealed a raft of new and returning commissions, with two new formats and three factual shows set to launch across its portfolio of channels.

Eight-episode series Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier is a new comedy format for Dave hosted by comedian Richardson as he attempts to analyse, assess and log all of his many worries. The series was commissioned from Talkback Thames by UKTV senior commissioning editor Iain Coyle.

Comedian Romesh Ranganathan becomes Judge Romesh (10×30’) in another format for Dave, holding court over real-life disputes. Produced by Hungry Bear Media, the show was ordered by commissioning executive Joe McVey.

UKTV has also ramped up its factual commissions with two documentary series. Cop Car Workshop (10×60’) from Blink Films, takes viewers inside one of the UK’s police car workshops and is executive produced for UKTV by McVey.

The second factual order is Inside the Vets (15×60’), building out W’s Inside the… franchise from Brown Bob Productions.

The doc series follows the daily challenges faced by the team at one of the country’s busiest veterinary clinics. It was commissioned by deputy director of commissioning Hilary Rosen, with UKTV commissioning executive Natalie Rose as executive producer.

Lastly, Cops UK: Body Cam Squad, from Raw Cut Television, has been renewed for third and fourth seasons. The series was commissioned by Rosen and the executive producer for UKTV is Arch Dyson.
