UKTV gets Carter from Sony

Multichannel broadcaster UKTV has acquired three series from Sony Pictures Television (SPT), including new detective show Carter, for its crime drama channel Alibi.

Carter was originally commissioned by SPT Networks for its international channels including AXN and is produced by Canuck prodco Amaze Film + Television.

It follows Harley Carter, a detective on a hit American TV show who, after being forced to return to his hometown after a public meltdown in Hollywood, uses his acting experience to become a real-life investigator.

Additionally, UKTV has picked up CBS Television Studios (fka CBS Productions) and SPT coproduction The Guardian, and police procedural Unforgettable, also produced by CBS Television Studios and SPT.

In related news, pan-Asian SVoD provider Hooq has also acquired Carter. From April 6, Hooq viewers will be able to stream the series, with a new episode added every Friday.
