MIPCOM: UK prodco Chalkboard has picked up adaptation rights to Armoza Formats’ relationship reality show Marry Me Now.

The deal marks the ninth acquisition of the format, following sales into Germany, France, Italy and China. The German version, for ProSiebenSat.1, is due to air in summer 2017.

The show, in which women propose to their boyfriends having arranged the wedding behind their backs, was created by Odelia Yakir and was first pitched at Armoza Formats’ annual Formagination competition.

Mike Benson, MD of Chalkboard Television, said he believed the format has the potential to become a “huge hit.” A UK broadcaster has not yet been named.

In related news, Armoza Formats has joined forces with Ukraine media group Film.UA Group to co-develop the next generation of content using virtual and augmented reality.

Armoza will distribute all content to come out of the partnership, with Film.UA producing for Russia and the Ukraine. Armoza has several other international content partnerships, with companies including Canada’s QMI Content and Chinese VoD service Sohu.
