UK deal for Syfy series

NBCUniversal has found a UK broadcaster for its factual entertainment programmes Haunted Highway, Haunted Collector and Hollywood Treasure.

UKTV’s flagship pay-TV entertainment channel Watch has acquired multiple seasons of the three series for 2013.

Haunted Highway (6×60′) features Jack Osbourne as one of four hosts looking into paranormal activities in rural America. In Haunted Collector (6×60′), a family tracks down haunted items.

Hollywood Treasure, meanwhile, is a 24×30′ series that follows auctioneer Joe Maddalena as he buys pop culture memorabilia for his auction company. All three series air in the US on Syfy.

Watch plans to use the shows to build its ‘out of the ordinary’ programming theme, alongside existing series Beauty & the Beast, Primeval: New World, the third season of Dynamo and the upcoming Jonathan Goodwin project.

“These new programmes fit perfectly within Watch’s remit to provide new content with a distinctive twist,” said UKTV’s head of acquisitions and coproductions Alexandra Finlay, who did the deal with NBCU.
